Smart routing

A decline is not the end of the transaction.

We send each payment to whichever of your acquirers is most likely to approve it. If it comes back as a soft decline, we try the next one straight away, while the customer is still on the same page.

What you get

How the rules work

01

Rules you can read

Route by BIN, issuer country, amount, currency and card type. Rules are shown in plain language in the dashboard.

02

Cascading on soft declines

Response codes that mean "try again elsewhere" trigger a second and third attempt without the customer noticing.

03

Caps and health checks

Monthly caps on each merchant account are tracked. Acquirers with rising decline rates are weighted down automatically.

How it works

The order of events on a cascade

The decision takes a few milliseconds and is based on your rules plus what has worked before on similar cards.

  1. STEP 01

    Score the acquirers

For each payment we rank your merchant accounts by expected approval, cost and remaining monthly cap.

  2. STEP 02

    Send to the first choice

The payment goes to the top-ranked acquirer. A hard decline stops here and is reported as such.

  3. STEP 03

    Cascade if needed

On a soft decline the next acquirer is tried straight away, reusing the same 3DS result.
